Starting off with the high energy rocking “Princess Revolution,” multiple award-winning Moey’s Music Party (Melissa Levis and her band) presents 15 songs featuring girl power: empowering girls with the message that they are not helpless, that they can wake themselves up with their own magical kisses, slay the dragon, and even rescue the prince. All of the songs are in various styles of rock and pop, performed with verve, energy, and enthusiasm by this group of talented musicians. Four of the songs also appeared on the DVD Happily Ever Moey! A Fairy Tale Lark in Central Park (SLJ, July 2011, p. 44): “Give Yourself a Kiss” (Sleeping Beauty wakes herself up); “20 Mattresses” (the princess prefers a futon); “You’re Different” (Andersen’s “The Ugly Duckling”), and “Sing, Little Mermaid” (Moey take on “The Little Mermaid”). Other songs include: “Let’s Share,” “Who Can Do It? Me!” “5 Little Princesses” (jumping on the bed), “I’m a Princess,” “Princess Pokey,” “Colors of the Rainbow,” “Go Away Monster!” “This Is My Voice,” and the super energetic “Princess Rock Star!” An excellent album for all little princesses.
